Music was my focus throughout my school years -elementary through college - starting with early piano lessons and progressing through high school and college bands, trombone in hand. I was studying to be a band director when I followed a friend to play auditions for Noel Coward's "Blithe Spirit", snagged the lead role and found my calling. Since that spring of 1973, I have acted on many stages, and in the interest of earning money following one's passion, I developed a substantial career in Birmingham, Alabama, doing voice overs and corporate videos. Ultimately I co-hosted a live morning television show, became the "weather girl", and moved on to waking up even earlier, reading the news on morning radio. The lure of Broadway became too strong, however, and I sold most of my belongings and headed to New York City in 1989. Off-off Broadway was the closest I came to that dream, but the superb acting classes I found were the highlight of those years--Dustin Hoffman eyeing me on the street notwithstanding. The early '90's found me back in the South, where my family and the longing for living quarters consisting of more than one room for less than two weeks' pay were the big lure. The paydirt, however, for somewhat regretfully leaving the Big Apple, was the incredible good fortune of meeting a true Renaissance man, Steve Lance, who became my husband. His knowledge, skill and combination of talents are rare and astounding. With his guidance, and with the intrinsic intermingling of sensibilities that imbues all artistic proclivities, Art has become a new passion for me.
