A wonderful decorative landscape, 25 inches by 30 in. canvas, 32 inches by 37 inches with frame, on its original stretcher bars and in what appears to be its original frame, a 1920's era French Regency revival frame. The painting has been cleaned , re-backed and slight restoration done on it [less than 1 percent]. This painting is professionally done in the French realist style influenced by the works of such as Courbet and the Barbizon painters. The frame itself is a wonderful antique (estimated value $2,200) with appropriate "craquelure", in gessoed frames, the wonderful banding cracks that travel around the frame showing its genuine age. Care should always be taken that such cracks are preserved yet stable as with this frame.
