This exceptionally beautiful Art Nouveau decorative painting, 25 inches by 33 in. canvas, 38 1/2 inches by 38 inches with frame, is unsigned. It is in excellent, unretouched condition on its original stretcher bars in its 22 carat gilded carved period frame (estimated value $3200) that appears original to the piece. As a decorative Art Nouveau era piece I have not seen its better. We are fortunately situated in time close enough to the Art Nouveau Era to occassionally see authentic pieces on the market. It was the last of the great "classsical styles". It is much harder to find, for instance an authentic French Regency piece. There have been so many revivals of that style that practically everything available is a revival piece from one era or another or confused with it.. The rendering in this oil is accomplished and its style is obviously professional.
